Went for hunt yesterday morning. Right at 7am 4 coyotes come out and play in the sun.

Raise my 6.8, this is why my 6.8 is my all around rifle, then I let the lead fly. Got 2 of them, would have had all but tall goat weed allowed them to escape.

I fired about 9 round. Ears rang like always, used to go away the next day. But still ringing today.

I sometimes use my AirPods, like the Indians did. Do y’all use hearing protection??

I do not, because I hear a lot of nature sounds. Finally, I hunt somewhere with tight shooting windows, not staring at a feeder for multiple minutes.

I do now but I didn't in the past. That's the biggest reason I've suffered from hearing loss and Tinnitus for the past 20+ years. I now use hearing protection to keep it from getting worse. I recently bought some Walker electronic muffs and I really like them. They amplify the normal sounds but shut down when you shoot. So far, they seem to work better than other electronic muffs I've had in the same price range. Do whatever you have to do to preserve your hearing. Once it's gone you'll never get it back.

Corded plugs around the neck. Put them in before I shoot. Doesn’t take but a second. I have too many friends with hearing issues because they didn’t protect themselves. It’s a good thing to teach the youngsters too.

in the stand I use walkers. If im stalking i use ear plugs. About 5 years ago we were target shooting after that I had ringing in my ears for over a week. So now I wear ear plugs.

It's slow and expensive, but a suppressor is the best solution.

Protect them all the time or you'll wind up like me wearing 2 hearing aids. Without the hearing aids I can't hear nothing. Quality of life is diminished with hearing lose, I know.

As noted above, do everything you can to protect your hearing. I suffer from Tinnitus and hearing loss due to shooting without hearing protection. Years of upland bird hunting and duck hunting have taken their toll. That, and an idiot in the duck blind that discharged a 12 gauge next to my left ear.

I wish I’d used ear protection years ago- back when there were lots of dove hunts.
Now, I never shoot without some kind of hearing protection. I usually use a pair of Howard Leight muffs, but will use plugs or whatever I have. After getting to the blind one time and not having anything, I passed up a bunch of pigs because the last time I shot without protection my ears rang for days.
Get some electronic muffs. They amplify normal sound, then shut off when you shoot.

Walkers until I get a suppressor or three.

I bought some of these to keep next to my rifle.

I have a 30cal suppressor and it will work well on 30cal or smaller.

In use it on my 223 and it is great!

Most suppressors still aren't hearing safe. Obviously they help, and work in a pinch of course, but don't think you're going to shoot suppressed and automatically not cause at least some hearing damage.

I'm an ear pro nazi and use plugs or phones whenever shooting, doing yard work, riding a motorcycle, etc. There are too many well-priced options out there that protect your hearing AND enable you to hear everything around you to ignore the risks.

Even after all these years, I still hear "20/20."

I have a suppressor that I move from one gun to another. Non-suppressed guns I have a butt stock pouch for ammo and I keep ear plugs in there too so that I do not forget them.

I just throw ear muffs on. They are first thing out of my backpack when I get in blind and on floor or around my thigh. Takes 1 second to put on. Kids have theirs and know the drill. If deer are moving good I put them on and can keep one side next to my ear so we can hear.

I don't know how anyone can shoot a rifle or shotgun without protection. I always told my buddy he should wear something but says he hasn't worn them in 35 years. Now he has ear implants at 45. I have tinnitus from my first dove hunt. Shot a case in 2 days 24 years ago.
