I saw my first ever mountain lion tonight! It was on the Fisher/Jones county line.

Has anyone else seen one in this area?

I heard what sounded like a cat around 5. My wife said it was a pig.
Right at sunset around 50-60yards from the blind there was a mountain lion, just walking on the edge of a tree line.

Because of the way we were sitting in the blind, with the door open, there was no way I could have got a shot without muzzle blasting my wife, so we just watched it walk by.

I was really surprised by how light colored it was, I think it was a female.

I�d say around 80 lbs, my wife say 100 plus.

Why would it it be making noise? That seems weird to me.

The walk to and from that deer blind will never be the same!,

It may have been in heat.

Cool deal. I just seen one in Colorado last week and it was full grown. They are cool to watch for sure. I have no passion to kill one. They are just trying to survive in a mans world. IMO

Never saw one in Texas however my wife swears she saw one last year from her blind here in Dickens county we now carry our pistols during archery walking in to stands in dark am. I saw a mother and 2 cubs while elk hunting in Co.

I feel the same way about all big cats.

Coyotes and feral hogs are a different matter.

People that try to make a living raising sheep and goats, and to some extent, trophy deer, feel otherwise. 'Just a matter of perspective.

Same here I would not shoot one but not gonna criticise somebody that does.

That's awesome. Something that you will never forget. I've only seen one out in the wild and it's one of those memories that hasn't faded at all in over 20 years!!!!

I would rather hunt lion than deer any day or any time. There is a reason that bounties are paid on lions in many counties and by many ranchers. If someone doesn't want to shoot a lion that is your business and I will admit that I have walked off from a tree with a young lion in it.

I have heard stories for over 65 years of sightings in Williamson county. Have a friend who use to hunt around Bastrop, he saw one every year for several years.

Not to dismiss your accounts, but I�m sure there are legendary stories in every Texas county of some hunter who claimed to have seen a panther.

Supposedly have been verified in all 254 counties. I've seen exactly one. Laying in a wheat field just north of Brady. Near the 'Geographic center of Texas'. He was about 50 yards from hwy 377. We pulled over and watched it rolling around on its back. It saw the truck and ran straight across that wheat. Coolest thing ever.

I feel the same way about bears and cats, but also wouldn't criticize anyone who hunts them. Just a personal preference.

70 years old, hunted in Texas all my life, never seen one or heard one, but wish I had. And I wouldn't care if anyone believed me or not!

I use to hunt a ranch on the San Saba McCullough border. Tracker called the ranch house once day stating that he tracked one to the fence and wanted permission to come on the property. Owners were real particular and refused to let him. Owners told me to shoot cats on sight and never report them. They did not want the attention. I found 2 deer that were killed or covered up by cats. One was a doe I lung shot late in the evening. It went down a steep creek bank and left it till morning since it was cold. When I found it the next morning a big cat had beaten me to it. As soon as I figured it out I backed out of there. A cat will always guard its kill. Brother and a friend of mine actually saw cats on the property.

that's cool! i really haven't seen one in the wild yet but would really like to, and not sure if i would shoot one or not. if i did shoot one i would definitely mount it.
