I've been a Muzzy fixed blade guy for 20+ years, but I have NEVER been able to get them to fly and hit the same as my field points. So, i'm trying the dark side. 1st test is a Rage Hypodermic, 100gr, 2" cut. Worked well on this doe. A few hogs will be the ultimate test in my mind, but so far so good. All my hunts are self filmed (iPhone). Unfortunately my lighted knock didn't work..... sigh.

I’m a mechanical guy all the way.

I like the wasp jackhammers and rocket sidewinders

Those hypodermics work real good if they are installed on the arrow properly. I haven't used them on hogs, they cost to much. I like the Montecs or NAP Hellrazors for hogs.

Congrats!!! Have you tried Slick Tricks? Me and several other guys on the lease use the 100 magnums and work great.

1. She went 40 yards and piled up on a "dead run", I could see her the whole way.
2. Good to hear others have had good experiences with mechanicals. I'm gonna keep letting them fly for a while.
3. I'll get my chance on hogs soon enough, we have them all over. The shields on the bigger boars are tough and thick. I killed a pig on Saturday with a rifle from the camp house at 200 yds out. 200 lbs and the shield was nearly 2" thick.
4. The only mechanical I've tried so far are the Hypodermics. They ARE freakin' expensive.... I might try other brands just to see if I can save a few bucks per shot, just have not done it (yet)

I'll post more reports as I complete them.

Update on the mechanical broadhead testing. So far, so good. Two deer, two hogs. All recovered. The penetration on the hog shields is not as deep as my fixed blades, but still an acceptable blood trail from the entry wounds. Both deer had pass throughs, both hogs the broad head was stuck in the far side bone (either rib or shoulder). The testing will continue. Sorry for the grainy video, but it was getting pretty dark. And it's a hog, so if you don't want to see a grainy hog shot posted in the deer section, move along!
