Bout to add a new scope to my 7mag and replace the Varix II 3-9

I was looking at Bass pro and looked through the vx3i 3.5-10x40 & Freedom 4.5-12x40. My eyes in the store couldn't tell a lick of difference.
Anyone have experience with these 2 models in the field at dusk or daybreak? the price diffrence is only like $60 on optics planet.

Word is the VX-2 and Freedom have the same glass, I believe it to be true. VX-2/Freedom glass is pretty close to VX-3i to my eyes. Aside from glass I think the VX-3i is more robustly made and of course has a wider zoom range. The price difference is worth it to me.

Don’t roll those bloodshot eyes at me.

I put the Freedom 4-12 on my .270 as a "cheap" scope. Its VERY good. I just wish it had a regular cross-hair with out all the hash marks, optics are great for $259

Dont make fun of my old school mounts, they came with the gun.............

Good to know. BTW, I've had those same old school mounts on a 700 BDL, .243 since 1979. No issues. This is the only gun I've ever let hit the ground. It fell off my tailgate and hit hard. No effect on zero at all. I posted this story a few years ago. Those mounts saw a lot of action for 20 years until I upped my game on rifles and optics.

An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.
