I was a bit surprised to find that my flightless buzzard is still alive. I can’t remember when it was that I first saw him, but it was at least a year ago. He strolled out of the undergrowth this morning to chow down on the remains of the coyote I shot a couple of days ago. I thought for sure he’d be dead by now.

That's awesome that he is still alive and kicking. Can he hop up into trees?

I can't believe he has avoided the coyotes and bobcats..

I also figured the coyotes or bobcats would have killed the buzzard, but....nothing eats buzzards I suppose.

Except for a few times that I saw him hop up on downed logs, I’ve never seen him get more than about 2 feet off the ground.

Time to start training him. Buddy had one and it followed him around like a puppy dog.

I don’t think training him is that great a plan. Buzzards can be ‘fragrant’. Last I saw him this morning, he had backed into the bushes, with his head sticking out. I guess he was keeping an eye on his food supply.

Just make him your pasture pet. Drop him some gut piles and a little road kill every few days.....

Great. I love that flightless turkey vulture. I asked about it last week take it a treat.

I’d have given him another coyote if the danged coyote had slowed from a dead run this afternoon.

I think coyotes get the memo of a shooter in the area, fairly quickly.

I saw one, in 100° weather, parallel my truck, cross the road in front of me, and head to the trees in 6th gear the whole time. Never thought I'd see one expert himself that much, in weather that hot.

Congrats, your pet is doing alright. You have a resident trash collector.

I have always joked that it is a bad sign when a buzzard follows you around.
