How is everyone doing in Throckmorton County? I’m between 79 and 380 about 7 miles E of town. Lots of young bucks and does moving opening weekend but no shooters. Didn’t see any signs of rutting yet.

The mature bucks showed up opening morning then disappeared. We are in between Haskell and Throckmorton. I saw a fight Saturday am and the bucks were checking does. Only the younger bucks coming to the feeder. Both of these bucks were picking fights opening morning

Nice Bucks Bulltide! That 10 looks like a South Texas deer.

How are the ranch roads out that way? Dried up any?

Thanks CGB. That 10 was old as hell. Hola Snake Oil. They were an absolute mess. Unless you had a Polaris or 4 wheeler, you were walking a long way. They started to dry up a bit as we were leaving Sunday. Looks like a little bit or rain today and then it should be clear.

Looks like it’s going to be cooler this weekend. We had good action around the feeders the last 2 weeks. A few new bucks showed up on camera last weekend. Should be good the next few weeks. Good luck to everybody hunting!

I would regularly see coveys of 10-15 during the summer and early Fall. Haven't seen any since the rains came

We hunt south of town (south 380 but north of the 183/283 split) on a few separate tracts on the east and west side of 183. Have a couple shooters on cams but the movement was pretty slow opening weekend through Monday - I don't think the 15-20 mph SSW winds helped. We were able to connect on a few pigs and about 1,000 yellow jackets though... Heading back out this weekend through Monday again, hoping to have some better luck.

5 miles north of town I saw 12 different bucks running does yesterday between going in/glassing/leaving, all were young and the best was maybe 130" ish. Of course we don't have many 5/6 yr old deer. Lot's of chasing

We had a pretty good weekend. Six hunters and six deer killed. Two really old 8's and a pretty nice 10 and a cull buck rounded out with two doe. 3 of the bucks were over 200# on the hoof. The 10 was chasing a young doe with not much result. Several more bucks sited but nothing to make a fuss about. One giant on the camera. Headed back this weekend to see what is what. Going to be dark and colder.

on particularly rough days when I'm sure I can't possibly endure, I like to remind myself that my track record for getting through bad days so far is 100%.....and that's pretty good.

We are northeast of town almost to the river. Lots of young bucks running around, but no mature ones showing up. Pigs everywhere!

That’s what I’ve been hearing. I’m hoping the cover is just so thick they’re hard to see.

No thanks. I ended up using a few foggers on them. I will have to bring the rv back and do some repairs in a few weeks.

They guys didn't really see anything this past weekend. The younger bucks are still coming to the feeders. I think the rut is on full swing now if it wasn't already

Last weekend I hunted Friday evening through Sunday evening. Saw a lot of deer, bucks were chasing, and driving the does crazy. Sunday afternoon I rattled in 5 bucks but they were all young, had a nice 3.5 year old 10 probably 125-130 come in. The guy in the stand next to mine watched a 10 breed a doe in his wheat field. I'll be back at it the 16th-25th. I'm lucky, the wife and kids like to spend Thanksgiving in Throckmorton.
