Can’t find the thread where the scales are discussed. I’ve had it with my RCBS chargemaster. Looking to take it to the next level. Which ones do I need to look at?

So if I’m reading right the complete A&D set up will run $900? Does that sound right?

That's about right. Once set up, we can load 100 rounds in about 36 minutes.

The thrower has been splashing some kernals out, on mine. So 50 rounds took 20-25 minutes. I've recently made a modification, but have yet to see if I corrected the problem. But charges loaded to .02 gr consistency has been lovely!

The Auto Thrower set up is really geared for loading a lot of rounds. It's a pain to load only a few. If you change the powder charge, it takes some time to adjust it. But once it's throwing, it's flying!

Maybe I’ll start weight sorting primers

I throw my charges less .1 gr on the chargemaster and then trickle with the balance beam. It takes longer but I can’t justify the cost of that system, yet. Would love to have one though, that’s a heck of a setup.

That makes exceptional ammo. Takes me 50 minutes to make 50 rounds that way.

I’m not as concerned about the time as I am the precision. Balance beams fry my brain for whatever reason. I want to trickle a perfect load with a digital readout that leaves no room for my interpretation.

Prometheus is not something I’ve ever considered because of the price but more importantly not wanting to deal with the man who builds them. If he’s as big of an asss as people say then he will shortly be out of business now that there is comparable equipment available.

I think the Prometheus is faster then auto tricker in terms of cycle time. However it is a lot more money. And what’s more important to me costs more money and time for load changes.

I think the auto trickled balances cost, accuracy, and speed nicely as a step up from a chargmaster level of performance.

I inquired about the Prometheus and actually put my name on the list....it was supposed to be a 11 month wait when I put my name on the list. Brand called about 5-6 month later and said I was up. He was a super nice guy and explained everything on the phone he said it was going to be about $3700. He said swapping between powders was a wheel change and wasn't too hard but took a little bit of time to do. That and the fact that I wasn't shooting as much scared me from it...so I gave up my spot.

Then the autotrickler came out at almost 1/4 the cost and I jumped. I haven't regretted it one bit and really like it but would like the Prometheus too, it is faster yet with what seems like even less over or under throws (autotrickler does over/under a kernel or four sometimes). When I use my autotrickler, I'm utilizing the to the kernel accuracy.

I plan on machining some pieces of metal that are the exact weights that I use the most, that way I don't have to scoop powder to get the initial weight to set the autotrickler up. But I've not bought a mill yet and it'd be much easier on a mill than a lathe to make those pieces.

Good luck RS. I bought some 1.5 oz stainless condiment cups from Amazon and fixed the splashing issues I initially had.

Yeah, easier to ask forgiveness than approval wink

About 15 years ago wife and I split our accounts into two different ones...as long as I can pay the bills and give her money when she asks for it (fortunately, she doesn't ask often) I don't get too much slack over my purchases...I get more of a head shake or I can't believe you did that comment. One of the best decisions I ever made...we do not argue about money and she has no idea what is spent on "Judd crap" grin
