I bought a Gerber "Bear Gillis" small hatchet, biggest POS I ever wasted $$ on, edge just dings when you hit a pelvis bone. Guess its made for soft wood only

Going in trash

which one will hold up??????

I have a Fiskars. It is stout and balanced nicely. Has a nice plastic sheath. Taken hogs heads off and sliced thru elvic bones no issue.

I carry a Hawk in my pack. It will break down a deer.

x2 on the Fiskars. I sharpen mine with a smith diamond hone, and after chopping wood for 30 minutes or so, it will still slice through paper as good as my pocket knife.

I have had the same gerber retractable bone saw for around 20 years, has spit pelvis quick WT, MD and quite a few elk, stores easy in y pack, cleans great and has never been re-sharpened, no way I'd drag a "whacking" tool around after having it.

I second the gerber, mine has a small blade in the handle. Very nice piece of gear.
