We are on a new lease in West Texas and it has hogs. We have seen them on camera numerous times (too numerous), but while building feed pens, putting up blinds, filling feeders from February through deer hunting this past weekend, we have yet to see a single pig in person. We have put in about 19 hours in the blind plus all the previous mentioned time on the lease and have yet to have a personal sighting. What are we doing wrong or are the pigs just doing everything right?

Rule #1 of successful hog hunting is that the hogs must show up.
Rule #2 is that the wind must not be blowing toward the hogs or they will smell you and vanish faster than your tax money.

I have two unwritten rules:
1.
2.

19 hours in the blind that’s the problem. You can put 19 hours in on a weekend if there are multiplehunters in different blinds. Also look at the time the hogs are on camera and hunt those times.

Go for the wet areas, thick cover, track em. Good luck.

This. And most hogs will be coming in a night. We are most successful when night hunting the pigs.

Pigs are getting smarter since it's open season on them and lots of folks are hunting them.
We have been hitting them hard at night and right now, they only show up at feeders between 3-5am and disappear during day.

I see very few hogs during daylight hours anymore.

Another thing is with all the rain lately, they don't have to go very far for food or a water puddle to lay in and there is lots of cover.

Cheers,

If they are getting pummeled at feeders from others in the area they get smart quick.

Just like Jesus, sometimes you gotta kill some hogs.
