I didn't know either, and couldn't tell for sure even after fiddling with it and looking it over for a while. I wound up taking it to a biologist friend of mine. They kept it for about a month, and determined it was 100% whitetail. 192" worth to be exact.
Moral to the story (speaking to myself too) you can never tell by solely looking at the antler configuration.

The forehead and size of the hair patch is what sold me on it being a mule deer from that photo. Here is a mule deer killed in Pecos County in 2007 that had a whitetail typical 5x5 rack with a normal fork G2/G3 on left then both G4's split.
