The wildlife biologists stopped by this weekend to talk about the black bear we’ve had on our lease this year. He had picked up a buck that someone had hit down the county road from us. I feel pretty confident in saying nobody on our place has even had pics of a deer like this in the 7 years we’ve been on it. Poor pics but thought I’d share. We’ve had wider deer but every deer I remember being harvested was a typical.

It’s a single bear. He has been around since maybe August or September. He is pretty tough on feeders.

There have been bears in Red river county for at least 15 years now. As far as I know it’s only been young males looking for their own territory.

I’m in the northwest corner of the county and have never seen one. Closest I’ve heard of one to me is Manchester.

Oh I didn’t pick up the road kill. The biologists did. He had it in the back of his truck and I just took the pictures.

I had a place north of Detroit and they have had bears on camera too. I just had pigs unfortunately and never hunted the place.

We've had them on our lease in Red River county last spring. We're about 11 miles north east of Clarksville. Haven't had any pics this year of them. We've been told they come down from Oklahoma (Broken Bow area) and Arkansas.
