Agree

Pintails and Cans have something to say about that. Mallards are the most common though.

I don’t see a lot of cans. I’ve shot one and put it on my wall. I’ve heard they’re tasty. Mallard is the best eating duck I’ve had to date. I like pintails, too.

I like a little of everything. One day I want a limit of green heads with a sprig or woody drake kicker. Then the very next day I want 1 greened, 2 pintails, 2 wigdeon and 1 drake gray. Mix it up like that all season.

Whichever ones are feet down over my decoys! I like teal because they come in big groups during early season.

Ringers, readheads and cans are fun because they fly fast and their sounds are off the chart...

Gadwall, wigeon, pintail and mallard would be my next favorite in this order due to their willingness to decoy.

I just enjoy having a flock of anything actually land in my spread, that is the ultimate rush to me.

GWT much more erratic flying, probably the hardest to shoot. Divers are smooth flyers, easier to shoot. 18 second video below is pretty cool, it was my duck lease 2009. 2 ringers come in behind us, circle around, I shot the first, my son (just turned 12) shoots the second duck. You can hear my son when they coming behind us, all I can make out is "Aw Dad look...", and last duck makes a nice splash sound. grin

We shot a whole mess of ringers that morning..

Pintails are one of my favorites because they are so cool looking and I don't shoot them often.

there is always somethibg special aout a big can also.

And as I've leaned I like to sleep in a kittle bit and walk around some days instead of the public rat rqce.. wood ducks have become one of of favorite ducks to walk and stalk in creeks.

Hard to beat mallards when they are working the hole. I'm not discriminate though, I will shoot em all.

I grew up duck hunting in the Imperial Valley of California, my first mount was of course a Cinnamon Teal, lots of Sprig and GW Teal out there too..Widgeon have always been my favorite, there was a time in the early 70's when they would strip a lettuce field, overnight, that was just sprouting up from the mud, while the irrigation water was still showing in spots. Killed a Eurasian Widgeon and gave it to the Biologist at the Wister Unit of the Imperial Wildlife Refuge...on my bucket list to go back and kill another one in California...if they don't outlaw hunting there first.
