Got this article today in my inbox- was a pretty good read and one of the most informative on how deer's eyesight works.

http://www.themeateater.com/hunt/whiteta..._eid=6e6d70c3ec

I thought the part about hunter's perceptions of camo versus what they may see in the tan range was interesting, and the stuff on UV.

Check it out.

Good read. The UV factor is something to think about. I use Atsko Sport wash for my hunting clothes and one day I was hunting and a deer came out and stopped and looked directly up at me in my tree stand and ran away. Wind was blowing away from the deer so I knew it didn't smell me and I hadn't moved so it kind of puzzled me as to what spooked the deer. I told my wife what happened and she told me that she was out of the sport wash and used regular unscented detergent on my hunting clothes. I looked and the detergent had UV brighteners in it.

Walk in front of your trail cam when it is dark if you want to see what your clothes look like at night or darker times. I had a buck watching me this morning in my groundblind and I know my dark shaded camo shirt was glowing to him. I have seen it on my TC cams when I walked in front of them. It is the only camo shirt I have that does it and I picked the wrong one this morning without thinking about it.

Very interesting read. I've actually never been a camo guy … I hunted for a few years with camo a long time ago and determined that it didn't improve my hunting success/failure ratio in any noticeable way so I stopped buying it. The industry has done a great job in marketing it as necessary though... almost as good a job as all the pharmaceutical companies do in marketing their pills for all our problems.

So that’s why the red flannels work so well
