Everyone was already staring because the RSO called the range cold and made a scene. The shooter had minor injuries to his face and neck.

Was he wearing eye pro?

I'm guilty of not always doing it with a bolt action, but those damned AR's I sure wear it.

I have heard about that being done. Enough charge to swage the bullet down and send it all the way down the barrel.

Doubt it would stabilize but the sectional denaity would be high. SD is a key component of calculating BC

Wonder if some math can be done to figure out how long the .308 bullet became?

I could do the math last year but not sure about this year, I still have trouble with 4th grade reading problems after what I went through last year bang

Jeez!!! I've had customers shoot these and it go off, 270 Win in a 7 Mag and 300 Win Mag in a 338 Lapua. Both had gas in their face and rifle was fine after cleaning.

I have chamber checked (very carefully) my 300 blk out ammo in my 223 bolt gun and AR. If the ammo is loaded correctly, the blk out will NOT chamber in a 223. My bullets are seated out long, have a good crimp on the bullet, and the powder behind the bullet is generally a compressed load (not allowing the bullet to go deeper into the case, and it allows for faster speeds!). This all keeps the bullet in place and SHOULD not allow it to chamber in a 223/5.56 rifle. The 300 blk out bullet makes contact with the shoulder area of the 223 chamber, and won't allow the bolt to close. But if the ammo is loaded short, does not have a good crimp, and/or the bullet is pushed back into the case during the chambering, it can chamber. If if chambers, it can certainly fire.

Had a buddy shoot a .270 in a 7mm mag back in the 70's. It filled the pick-up cab with smoke, blew the floor plate out, cracked the stock of a very nice Sako Forester. He ordered a new stock, put it all back together and it shot fine. It shook us both up pretty bad. It was a cold day so the window on my side was rolled up. When the smoke cleared he had tiny little specks of blood all over his face. We assumed it was small fragments of brass from the ruptured case. I have the case on my reloading bench to this day to remind me not to do stupid stuff.

I was considering to build 300 blackout for fun, but on our hunting lease we occasionally grub someone else gun (with permission) or let guest use them. So I give up this idea.
