May have a chance to hunt out this way. Can anyone tell me about the area, I’m sure there’s plenty whitetail? Any exotics? How are the roads from flooding and all the rain? An ole buddy may be taking me , I didn’t wanna ask too many questions. Thanks for any info

Middle Verde Ranch on 1077 had some good deer for Bandera County.

Thanks I have no idea exactly where we are going. He just said head out that way. I don’t get out to hill country much, but I always hope for exotics haha. Never have had the chance to shoot exotics. Have hunted in Junction for years but we didn’t have exotics, just plenty smaller type deer. It was fun though

Hill Country State Natural Area is on that road. A lot depends on where off 1077 the place you are going to hunt is. Good Luck.

Thanks guys. Don, I found out it isn’t terribly far from town but not sure exactly how far or how big the place is. He says there are axis in the area. I’d be tickled to get an axis doe, a buck would be one of my greatest moments. I’ve killed tons of whitetail but never an exotic.

I hunted down that road just past the shooting range. The whitetail were better than I expected for hill country bucks, and lots of axis. I had a friend that guided a ranch further down the road (I do not now the name or exact location), he said that they shot everything as long as there were $$$ involved.
Good luck

Thanks I’m just tagging along and will enjoy getting out of this flat land. I can kill pretty decent whitetail around my house and at my lease down the road. It’ll be fun just getting away

The closer to town the more Axis there are. If you want to see a lot of Axis drive on Schmidtke Rd. from town to Hwy 470 a little after daylight.

OST is good.

The Mexican place next to the bbq joint is also good

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

OST used to be good years ago, but no telling how many times if any it changed hands.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.
