What kind of speed do y’all get with your longtails? I was only pushing about 18 at full throttle with just me in the boat. I know they’re not made to be fast but I feel like I should be getting a little more out of it. I have a 15ft all welded hull with a 23hp mud buddy. Just curious if I’m close to what everyone else is getting or if I need to look at a prop change.

Never bothered to check top speed, but its not over 20

18 is really good in a long tail. I had a few before going to a surface drive and never got 18 out of one even empty.

For your boat and motor, your right where you should be.
I have a 35 MB on a 17/60 and get the same speed.
If you want more speed you have to go up in motor size.
Mine is for sale, as I have another motor now.

Awesome, that’s what I wanted to hear. I don’t need it to be any faster but I wanted to make sure it was performing like it was supposed to.

I hit 20 with my backwater 23hp long tail when alone. Its on a 15/40 old fisher aluminum boat I turned into a duck boat.
