Just wondering if there's a good wifi camera that I can put in my backyard to monitor the action and it send pics to my phone? It probably won't be more than 50' from the router.

Biggest challenge is going to be your power source (if you want live video). If you are running power that far you should go ahead and run network cable and not worry about the WI-FI.
