Hello folks, I am having a nilgai hunt possible tomorrow or the day after and I just purchased a roll of 28 in x 1000 feet of freezer wrapping paper with wax lining on the inside and reg paper on the outside.
Only thing I need is some type of padding or absorbent paper that you place on the freezer paper and the meat on top of that to absorb blood or whatever purpose its made for, such as the butcher uses for over the counter meats or deli, etc.
What method do you folks use for absorbent padding or some type of paper to place on the freezer paper before wrapping meats?
I also use vacuum sealed bags as well, but it does not protect it from long term freezer burns.

We wrap meet in freezer paper all the time and don't use anything to absorb blood, wrap it fold the ends well and tape. The wax side touches the meat and when you put it in the freezer put the side with the seems up.
If your vacuum packed stuff is freezer burning your not doing something right.

You could age the meat for a week or two in the fridge on racks to let the blood drain from the meat prior to freezing.

If your vacuum packed stuff is freezer burning your not doing something right. Some bag material is better than others, but something is wrong if vacuum pack is freezer burning. You can also keep meat a long time wrapping it in good plastic wrap then freezer paper before freezing

We don’t use anything except the freezer paper but we do double wrap each one. The wife insists on double wrapping. Get you one of the heavy tape dispenser makes it lots easier. I use freezer paper for targets, just put orange dots on them.
