Hello PPH, I plan to hunt Moore Plantation WMA on the opening day of rifle season. Going out today to see this place for the first time. Have you hunted the Sabine area before?

Hello Hammer, it's a very large area. I have hunted the Moore Plantation for many years. Some great deer come off the area each year. Go by and check out the deer check station on opening weekend, usually a couple of real bruisers come through

Thanks for the response Gents. I had a blast going out to the Moore Plantation last weekend. I've watch a few you tube videos on how to e-scout, however, it wasn't until I went out there last weekend that some of it started to make sense. Now I plan to go back the weekend of the 27th with a more targeted approach to locating deer signs. I have tried to use the information that I've gleamed from the e-scouting videos and have picked about 6 spots to check out when I go back. This will be my first public land hunt and my second large game hunt (which my first big game hunt was way unsuccessful long story). I won an antlerless deer tag this year for this location so I am committed to at least trying to harvest a buck or a doe this season. I do appreciate the comments and I will be sure to share what information that I learn this season and happy hunting everybody!

Will do ETxHntr, I actually spoke to the area manager I think was his title Bill Adams, and he mentioned that he and Cody the biologist would be out there on opening day at the deer check stand. Believe me I plan to stop by the deer check stand to see if I can speak with a few more experienced hunters.

PPH, does your buddy know of a deer processor around the Moore Plantation area? I would like to stop by one on my next trip out.
