I need to seriously improve my binocular's and have been really focused in on Leupold BX4's. I've seen them on the occasional sale for $450(ish) but just havent pulled the trigger. Any other's I should be looking at in this general class? Trying to find a deal and have been patient, but with deer season upon us Im starting to get a bit anxious / ready to jump.

Nikon 10x42 HG are hands down the very best value followed closely by the Vortex 10x42 Razor HD.

What is your budget?

Those are a bit out of my range. I feel like based on my best case use of them, I could justify somewhere between $200-$450 for a pair. I have some Barakas I’ve been using for the last couple of years and just don’t want to go into another season with them.

The Bx4's you mentioned in the OP are very nice. I have the 10x42's, glass is better than the Viper HD's, on par with Meopro's and Monarch 7. The Nikon HG's are very nice as Skylar says, but they're also closer to $900, and I'd take them over the Razor HD any day. In fact, there's always something better than Vortex for = or less money, IME.

Old Burton guys started their own direct to consumer model. Made in Japan,

Optics are about price point segments. Vortex was a clear price point winner(outside of top top end) for a while, they have now become an over priced lower quality Leopold.

With that said Vortex did make everyone up thier warranty game.

The direct to consumer models seem to have best or atleast lead the mid and upper mid price points while big 3 still own top top end though.

Awesome. Thanks for the discount code.
I’ll be honest, I’ve been researching these Mavens and I’m pretty intrigued. They’re a newer company so don’t have the history as these others, but I’ve read a lot of great reviews over the last few hours. Seems like you get a lot of
Value for the price point. Need to start looking into these Meoptas now. Definitely opening up some doors here guys.

Meopta has been around awhile making some rebranded items for others.

FWIW, if you're going to spend $900'ish, I'd take the Meopta Meostar HD over the Mavens. Not a slam on Maven, but Meopta makes world class stuff. My 10x42 HD's are every bit the glass my Swaro SLC is, and very well built. To complicate the issue, Tract Toric's are new as well, like Maven, and offer the same optical quality as Maven for much less money. Tract was founded by ex-Nikon sport optic guys.

Bobo, Leupold wrote the book on customer service and warranty. Vortex and Swarovski learned how to do it right from Leupold.

I thought he was hilarious but some just couldn’t deal with him. I doubt he can come back.

Ok, I was thinking I was getting pranked here with these "hint" comments. Like someone slipped a "kick me sign" on my back or something. Sounds like Im just on the outside of an inside joke.

Thanks a million for these tips though guys. I think Im leaning towards those Maven c-1's. I found a pair of Vipers for $400 (may be able to negotiate them down) just outside of town but in reading reviews I've just not seen a bad thing about the C-1's, where-as a handful of comments about Vipers being carried by branding and there being better value for the price. Like, maybe a $320 pair of Mavens...

Disagree after have dealing with both. Luppy has good costumer service(was non transferable for longest time) but not near Vortex level. Luppy also choose not to warranty a bent scope for me, That was 20 years ago and well before Vortex, but none the less, I have bver been told no by Vortex.

I’m going through warranty process with Zeiss right now, I’m actually suprised, it’s gotten much better, but I’m 5 weeks in on a scope fix/replacement. I sent a pair of Razor(original raz’s) bino’s back to Vortex to fix the Diopter same week, had them back 7 business days later.

I haven’t ran the meopta meostar hd so they could beat the Mavens, my previous experience with Meopta I’d say no but is close enough to be purely objective.

I know maven will run all day with SLC’s, but SLC HD quickly edge them out and EL is pretty much pinnacle for most eyes(I actually prefer the HD’s over EL’s, but EL ergonomics over SLC HD. )

Maven has a Demo option.. a try before you buy if you will. You then take them to any vortex dealer and run them side by side.

My experience with sub 400 bino is glass is usually similar, build quality is where one ranks over the other. This is were the direct to consumer model seems to excel with no retail mark up.

Every now and then one of the traditional model companies will put out a higher end lower margin item to make up market share of that price point, but it’s getting rarer.

I have used Leupold riflescopes for over 40 years and been pleased with them. No issues.

That said, I have never seen a pair of Leupold binoculars or a Leupold spotting scope I would spend the money for.

I am not a fan of Vortex anything. Their lower end stuff is basically junk IMO and their higher end stuff is nothing to write home about either - and it’s close enough in price to better optics that IMO one might as well step up to the better stuff. Their marketing has been second to none (they were way ahead of everyone else on internet/viral/stealth marketing and their touting their warranty has also turned out to be a great marketing boon for them). All you saw everywhere when they first came on the scene was “Vortex this and Vortex that.....and it certainly ‘took’. I’ll give them kudos as businessmen. But great marketing and a great warranty do not a great product make. Warranty talk means almost nothing to me. The best warranty is one you never have to use.

That said, looks like y’all have given him some good leads on good optics that won’t break the bank.

Those are pretty legit. I have only ever seen them in shows. But one of my best friends and forum memeber's (JustCUZ) picked some of these up and they are Bad &*$, they will rival the Vortex Razor's I'm currently running.
