I have almost 1200 rounds of some old military 30-06 ammo, ball and AP, some loose, some boxed, some bandoliered, some on Garand clips. I really don't know much about this stuff and don't own a 30-06 anymore. Would anyone care to shed a little light on what I may have? Thanks.

The AP stuff is selling for $2.50/round on gunbroker. Couple lots of 500 on there asking $1000. Like anything tho, its whatever you can get someone to pay.

Looks like M2 AP Ammo. M1 Garand/ Light Machine Gun, M1903 30/06 ammo. 2800FPS in 24” barrel.
I’ve never come across that ‘striped’ colored ammo boxes; perhaps incindiary.
I believe this ammo was tested thru 1200 yds. Stored correctly and it will last forever.
Not sure on laws, but may be some issues selling/buying Armor Piercing ammo. Maybe someone will chime in that knows for sure.

We use to pull the bullets and cut copper jacket off and use carbide for center punches pressed into piece of cold roll. That was years ago when about all it was worth. Preppers like anything they think will kill a engine block so should be worth something now.

The AP stuff is completely legal at least on the federal level as long as it is in a 30-06 cartridge. Pull it and put it in 308/7.62x51 and you have restricted ammo. As for selling it, whatever you can get for it or just buy another 30-06 and you have a stockpile of ammo.

Dad had Garand with lots of ammo. Tried some in my 742 and the case would swell and not eject.
