OK, so if you were hunting on a property that had a fair amount of cows and wanted to keep them away from your deer feeders just for a weekend, what would put out in a few spots that might temporarily keep them away from your favorite deer stands?

Sorry, but I'd be real careful about feeding another man's cows. Cow's are funny. You put out all this strange feed on a Friday, hunt the weekend, then one of 'em drops dead on Tuesday. It probably won't matter what the cow actually died of. Just coming from a man who raises cows and deer hunts.

Waste of time. And agree with Slow Drifter on the risk. Whatever you dump out will be cleaned up in a matter of hours and then they're right back at your feeder. Hopefully you've got a good sturdy barbwire pen around the feeder.

I guess you could always start honking the horn and I am sure they will come. Just leave em at the truck grin

They love sweet feed. Don't dump it in a pile. Sling it sparsely in an area where you don't want them. They will never get enough to do anything but keep them interested in grazing for tiny nuggets. It's crack for cows.

Wouldn't advise it. Most people are more concerned with the cows than the deer are. They cohabitate the property year around.

You have hog panels or barb wire pen right?? How big of place you talking about? I have game pics of bucks eating and cows walking by. Seems to bother hunters more than deer sometimes. And I have moved sitting in a blind due to cows since I was bothered by them but we have 8 to choose from. First buck I shot I had cows everywhere, rubbing on blind, and deer didn't care walking right through them.

I Feed Indian Corn. The deer love it and all the colors make them stay at the feeder longer.

Pen the feeders with big enough pens that no corn is thrown out and the cows won’t mess with it.

Make it at least 10-12 panels. If you can arrange it, make the side of the pen that faces your blind on a slight downhill slope from the feeder. If the bucks are in it before daylight it will give you a clear shot of the fence panel when they are on the upsloped side of the pen.

I tend to keep a sling shot and marbles in the blind with me. I usually aim for their butts or where their neck joins the body and after one or two marbles, they tend to get the hint and move on. While i know it would move them faster, i am not a good enough shot to aim for an ear or their tail and aiming at the ear could cause problems if it puts out an eye. I dont think a sling shot does any major damage especially one of those Walmart special ones.
