Has anyone ever been mule deer hunting at Black Gap? Can you please provide some information and expert advice?

did it about 10 years ago. Really fun hunt. Take really good boots, excellent optics and be ready to put some foot time in. There were lots of deer when I did the hunt and the staff was great. Good luck on the hunt! Oh and take gas cans if you have room. Not many places to get it out there.

I did it 15 years ago. I remember it being pretty rough country. Lots of softball sized rocks everywhere you stepped. Saw some bucks, but never got a shot on one.

Hunt water holes and saddles. I sat high up on a hill where I could see both.. saw some really nice ones 4 over 140 BC and one in the 170s. I was hunting archery, so if I would have had a rifle I would have had a nice one.... they use the saddles for travel routes... if you find converging trails with a saddle even better... if it was a fairly dry season sit where you can see the guzzlers or watering sites too. My dad and i were both successful hunting like this during archery and we were the only ones to take deer. good luck Im envious! keep us posted.
