right now? I have about 15lbs. of fresh Live Oak acorns and Red Oak acorns to throw out in the feeder pens and was just curious as to what the deer are hitting right now in Stephens, Young, Jack or Throckmorton counties for those that have gotten out...

They are hammering my deer feeder and I am throwing corn up

Not a lot of acorns thank goodness but they started dropping about two weeks ago.

We don't have any oaks at our place, but cameras show that the deer have slacked WAY off at the feeders with the rain we have had.

My ground is covered with acorns, but still getting a few coming to the feeder. They just are not eating as much or staying as long.

May have to turn my feeder timer up, they are cleaning it up twice a day and you can see where they have been under the oaks getting the acorns. Oats and Wheat coming on now, so they have more to choose from now then probably all summer, but they are steady at it.

All the rain end of last month really kicked grasses and forbs off as well

Same in Houston County. The recent rains are sure to sour the acorns already on the ground.

I don't have many acorns but they still clean up the corn. The buck pairs and groups seem to be running as singles now and feed at od hours.

When I hunted the weekend before last the only deer eating corn were the fawns. The does would walk right through the corn and eat acorns while the fawns were eating.

Feeders have seen very little action the last 2 weeks. A few deer here and there but even the hogs haven't shown up near as much. It sounded like rain from all of the acorns falling while sitting in my stand.

My properties in North and East Texas hasn't seen nominal deer and hogs since the first week in October.

I always here the fabled "sour" the acorns. I have shot countless deer over soured corn/milo etc. and caught too many to remember in hog traps baited with some nasty sour grain to think that souring acorns will prevent them from eating them.

I’m sure I will be corrected.

But I personally don’t think Acorns sour. And if they do, the deer don’t care.

No kidding. Pretty sure every single one of our millions is vacuumed up by some critter.

we had a flood that washed ours away, but plenty x10 left ready to drop. Never seen post oaks produce so many acorns. By the way I am going to taste a post oak acorn this weekend to see if bitter or not. Also found first ever persimmon tree bearing fruit 2 weeks ago on our property.

I had acorns hitting the ground back in mid Sept during rain. Most of them split open or were eaten from that time frame. Now the second round is falling while it is raining and I saw some on Sunday that were sprouting to grow with the recent 9"+ of rain in last 14 days. Only two afternoons of sunshine in last 2 weeks or more now. Deer hit feeders on an irregular basis here. I turned a couple up over the weekend after the cooler weather.

My trees have about 2/3rds of the acorns still on the branches, same with the pecans. The front that is going to move through my County today is supposed to have very high winds so that will put a bunch more on the ground. DeWitt County didn't get the rain that Goliad & Bee did so acorns that have been on the ground look good. It makes hunting hard if not impossible, but it is good for the deer in the long run.

My Christmas Yaupons are covered with berries, and I usually see a well-defined browse line once they are ready. It seems they are a bit earlier this year, it is usually about a month from now, about the time the acorns and pecans are cleaned up.
