So I just got back from a trip to Innisfree, AB for a 3 day duck and goose hunt. I had a buddy try and convince me to go last year but I passed due to the cost, and honestly I'm more of a deer hunter than bird hunter but after the pics he sent me last year I said OK, sign me up. The week before it had been below freezing and snowy for some guys we knew hunting with the same outfitter but 20's and a foot of snow per day while brushing your blind wasn't right up my alley. Luckily for us the weather was beautiful the whole time we were there mid to high 20's at day break and mid to high thirties during the day with clear skies. First day of hunting was incredible. We got a banded Pintail and a banded Canadian Goose. It's only the second banded Pintail our outfitter has seen up here in 10 years of hunting. Second day was just as good and we let our guide bring his 4 year old sun come along and hunt with us. They definitely start them early up there, he's the boy struggling to bring the goose back. The last day was great as well we limited out on Geese, 48, in an hour and a half with a few snows and ducks mixed in. We had to get back to Edmonton to watch the LSU game that afternoon so that was it for the day. Wonderful trip with a bunch of great guides and a hell of an outfitter in Greater Canadians Outfitter!! 224 birds in 2.5 days!! Just got word it snowed 13" up there yesterday too!!
