It looks a little like a Western Ribbon, but has some well defined checked patterns that question that.

Checkered garters and black-necked garters look very similar, but that one is definitely a checkered. What county is that, Justin?

How do you figure? It doesn't have a single characteristic of any venomous Texas snake. No dangerous snakes in North America have stripes.
