I was at Lowe’s a few weeks back getting material to finish a blind. There was a guy with camo osb and multi use studs on his cart. We started talking, I said I’ve never used camo osb and that I use smart siding. He said he’s had good luck with camo osb and the blinds he built with it have lasted for years. I commented on sealing the edges etc. He said he seals all the corners and window cutouts with gorilla tape and it lasts for years.

I would have never though of that.

Thanks, Billy

Do you paint your smart siding, or just leave it be?

Paint both sides and edges, extra protection.

I seal all the corners with caulk, cheap caulk from Lowe’s and the paint mine with the cheapest flat Olympic paint that Lowe’s has. The color I use is called tree bark. Which is a dark brown kinda sorta.

Works for me.

I used to use rough Tex siding before they made smart siding.

Thanks, Billy

I built a stand using the camo osb about 3 years ago, used 1.5x1.5 flashing on the corners sealed with caulk. still holding up great without any sign of age so far. Tucked back into some pine trees, so very little exposure to direct sunlight.

I started using 1/2" pressure treated plywood with sheet metal roofs about 12 years ago.

No noticeable wear after years and years of use unpainted.
If I need to paint them, I use porch paint as it's durable and made to stand up to foot traffic.
If you buy it at HD or Lowes, they will make it any color you want.
I generally start with flat finish porch paint and have them mix either OD green or flat black.
OD green on outside if needed and flat black on inside to help mask silhouettes for varmint and night hunting.
