I was out at my place today to do some more work on food plot fields to get them ready to seed , well you know what I spotted all different sizes everywhere large worms to supper small, Now I'm calling on stxranchman for some advice since were in the general area just a different county, I've been planning to plant next wednesday the 17th and I know a good cool down is coming monday will this pretty much get rid of the worms, I lost my plots last dont want to lose them again that's why I am planting later!!! Any advice from anyone will be appreciated

I know Ranchman isn't planning to plant until mid October and possibly later.

I've been helping a fellow in central Goliad County, he is just a couple years into ranch ownership, and he wanted to plant this weekend. I'm north of him in southern DeWitt County and will not plant until I see some cooler temperatures. I have plenty of AWs if anyone needs any. Anyway, my year old no-till seeder had a seed auger issue that put him out of commission. We tried to repair it in the field, but I ended up taking it to Kubota in Victoria today to be repaired properly under my zero expense warranty.

I feel my seeder did him a favor as everywhere I walk I see them flying ahead of me. I mentioned this to him but stay out of it from there. Me, I want to see a cold front drive down the temperatures to a daytime high in the seventies and at least one night into the upper fifties. It can rise from there, as I feel that breaks the life cycle. At least that is what the old timers around here do, and I've slowly learned through my loss to listen. That should happen on Sunday here so about the same for Goliad & Bee.

I'm praying it does, looking at the weather for next mon, tues and wed its showing mid 60's as highes and mid 50's as lows so now only time will tell , for now the deer are tearing up the acorns on my property!!

Same here! I use this slow down on corn to let my feeders run dry so that I can clean them out.

I planted the 14th of September, hogs and army worms decimated my crop. I went back over with my grain drill, last Saturday Oct. 6th. See what happens this time.

I had 1.70" to 1.85" of rain yesterday afternoon here in Goliad County. Found army worms in one area of a plot that I did not replow for a fall food plot. They were eating the sour grass and grass-burrs. I saw some activity on army worms on coastal on Monday in northern Live Oak county. My plans were to plant 15th-20th of Oct so now I am waiting till 24th at the earliest. I need to Round-up my fall plots that are getting some new growth weeds and grass-burrs. IME if you drill in oats and army worms hit it and you get a rain within a 7-10 period after that, it will come back fine.

Ok so here was my plan last days off I prepped both of my food plots that way this wednesday on my first day off I can broadcast seed and drag it and they would be done, but it has rained all day here in beeville and pretty sure my ranch in mineral got soaked, I still plan to throw the seed out which is primarily oats and clovers last year my oats came out really nice even with some seed not even buried in the ground and its suppose the rain for the next week what do yall think honest opinions what's it hurt right!!!!
