Anyone have a 2500 or 3500 Ram with the 6.4 Hemi? MDS when not in tow haul is awfully appealing for 3/4 ton 4x4 on the highway...especially when there’s no DPF’s, fuel filters, or extra $9k in expense.

I’m looking for other 6.4 Hemi owners to share ideas and discuss a few quirks.

For example, this product looks appealing...

So does this one....

You won’t need the steering brace. The gas motor steering gear boxes don’t have the [censored] behind them like the diesels do. Some of the diesels have been known to tear the gear box from the frame, hence the steering brace.

The 2020 model won’t come out until Sept 2019, unless you’re just waiting to see if they change body styles. 4.10 gear is going to suck some fuel on the highway, won’t see anywhere near 17mpg.

The power wagon has 4.10s. I hope to own one in the next 6-8 months.

Correct. It also has 35 inch tires to justify the 4.10’s. I wish they made one in a diesel. I’d kill to have factory electric lockers like the Powerstrokes have

I have 3 of them from 2015-2018, the newest has around 50K miles, the oldest around 150,000 miles. We use them daily to perform PM's in the oilfield and I have been really happy with them, we can pull our trailers as fast as wanted with no problems at all. The fuel mileage probably isn't great but to be honest I've never checked them. They do what we want and save a ton of money up front and on maintenance, they do use 0w40 engine oil which is only readily available in synthetic, so we change them about every 5k and have had 0 problems. I did buy extended warranties on all of them just because of the nature of our work, they have had several recalls each, but my Ford's have as well. I will definitely buy another.

I just traded my 2016 2500 with 6.4 off last Friday. I had no complaints with it, other than the ride. It calls for 80 psi in the tires, and if you try to lower them below 70 psi, the TPMS light stays on, which bugged me. If you don't mind the light, and are not towing it would probably ride pretty good around 60 psi. I used it to pull a travel trailer, got out of the camping business, so did not need a 2500 anymore is the only reason I traded. I consistently got 18 mpg on interstate and 15 mpg with daily driving, which is better than I ever got with my 1500 with the 4.7. If I ever need another 2500 I would no would definitely buy another. I traded for a 2019 Rebel, which I am really liking a lot so far.

16.8 mpg is what my truck was showing with 350 miles on the odometer. I’m loving it so far. Added a Summit series Ranchhand full replacement front bumper and Ranchhand steps. Also added window tint to my liking.

Definitely understand wanting 4.10’s. I tried to find 4.10’s but couldn’t find one in Texas. The slightest of hills on cruise control will downshift. I just turn cruise control off and it lugs up hills just fine. Amazed by the torque of the gas burner....It’s about the same torque as an 03/04 SO Cummins but also has nearly 400hp too.

I bought my 2018 for nearly $10k off MSRP. PM me for my salesman’s number if interested.

Let it down shift. Gas motors like to spin fast unlike a diesel.

I bought a new 2500 powerwagon in 17 with the 6.4 hemi, I didn't like the way it went into eco mode and always seemed to lug unless in tow mode. I traded it after only 6 months due to cold start knock for a new 17 2500 diesel, what I should have bought to start with, much better for towing!!!!

Power Wagon comes with 285/75 which are equivalent to 33s. It will fit easily 35s easily and mine will have them soon after I get it.

I have a 2015 6.4 with 3.73s, 76k miles, no issues. Pull 35ft travel trailer w/ no issues. Mine is not 4x4, get about 15 mpg all around and 17-18mpg when driving 65-70mph. Above, mpg goes south.
