Normally this time of year we are covered in huge groups of whitewings but not so far this year. We are 20 miles to the north of Abilene. They are typically there because of a certain food source and that source is real low this year plus all the water has the patterns really messed up. As far as morning dove we still have good numbers.

saw a few groups of whitewings last weekend but most seem to be gone, did shoot a few mourning doves that were definitely not locals.

DFW area...

My dove season is most likely over unless we get birds from up north. Opening day was great.... not so much since. This weekend there were no birds at all in Woodson.

Hey Bobby, I hear your grandson is doing good one his birthday, that’s great news! Man, the most doves I have had here was a dozen doves on the high line wire, about a week in...I haven’t even pulled out my shotgun yet...sigh. I thought the TPW said “record numbers of dove” this year? I’m still waiting... popcorn

This is the first year in about 15 I don't have any dove down. Now I haven't been but with reports of zero dove, no point and been trained out. Might try this weekend. Normally have several limits by now ready for the smoker.

I got 13 and my son 2 this morning. Near Throckmortan. But I had to walk around and jump them up. We have some birds (plump juicy northerns) but with only 2 of us in a very big field they have way to much real estate to settle down in. I could have finished out my limit but we wanted to leave by 9 and head to the deer lease to get stands ready.
