Does anyone have any recommendations for wild game cook books? I normally have all of my deer meat processed into sausage and pan sausage except for the back straps. This year I would like to experiment butchering at least one deer and experiment with different meals. What do you guys like to make with your deer meat? I was thinking roast, fajitas, ground meat type stuff. Any suggestions?

Get on youtube, there are a few videoes that show very well how to fully process a deer from fresh dead to in the freezer, it is easy and your end result will likely be better than what you get at the processor.
Personally I would steer clear of a book, your gonna have a handful of stuff in it that's good and the rest is a waste the rusty trusty internet will be a good resource.
The recipes and cooking section here will give you a lot to look at.

We ate at his restaurant in Austin and Cathy gave me his cookbook for Christmas. Those snipe pictures came from this field. I was disappointed in his cookbook. It still remains in this same spot next to my refrigerator.

Thanks for the ideas! I like to experiment with food too. I need to learn how to break a deer down like the butcher does so I can have all of the different cuts.

Search Scott Rea Project on YouTube. Tons of butchering and cooking wild game. You'll have to get past the accent and the small Roe deer but it's the same process.

Buck Buck Moose by Hank Shaw is my current favorite, and I probably have 12. John Folse's After the Hunt is great if you want cajun/creole. The book itself is a work of art.
For breaking it down, Steven Rinella's Complete Guide to Hunting Butchering and Cooking Wild Game is very helpful. Though as mentioned above, you are probably better off with Youtube. Steve Rinella actually has a really good video out there. I think you can find it on Netflix, or his website.

I bought all of Steve's books on Amazon.
