For those going this weekend, river is up! Most areas should still be OK, but wet.

Archery started here couple weeks ago. Had cams out in 4 different public area's, bang they no were as big as OSBWMA, all 4 put tagether bout 1/5th size if that. Also had cams out on 4 differant privet land.
Although its getting tough ta find places. Lots of changes since 83. Seeing box stands, several of land owners get tagether. Archery still pretty much same, except 60+ can use crossbow. My ma in her 80's, took it up, pastbthey did shot gun, family & friends, back then, aplied for doe tags, limit of how many given. Only 1ta2 days hunt. Buck only had 3 days. Used me .45 Kentucky. My ma tis 2fur3 crossbow. They have a shotgun hunt, can use muzzleloader, this year can use scope. Then later muzzleloader season, can use scopes. In-lines are the prefured choice. Not sure all details, bang all me hunting gear, stands, guns, bows, still cant draw back even 40#'s, crossbow, still in texas... Northe rn part of state can use rifle. Shot-gun season been extended. They had muzzleloader season in 83 just certain counties. Few heard of in-lines.
Nough bout MN.
OSBWMA has 3 primative camping area's usualy see more trucks parked their. The people that work thar, up pretty cool group, usualy plenty of acorns. Old atv trails hold water, few little slews, got couple lakes, West side , ol creek channels, depend how high river up. & have seen plenty of wildlife, scratch although as many oaks thar be, used climbing, or chain-on stands with ladder steps, they, (ladder steps) can be used ta drag deer out, indian style. Use strap tie two tagether at end, V style, use safty belt ta tie deer on grab ther endcan also use safety harness. No pics, but does work. Any ways, seen very few squirrel. Compared ta oak trees. Enjoy watching the wildlife, keeps ya alert, always carried cammera ta video.
Anways best wishes ta all who venture on OSBWMA.

Pulled cards yesterday. Land owner has cows on property for a while. Had to clean out one feeder. Had over 9000 pics of cows and hogs, 2 yots, and 3 does. Land owner replaced all his timers, motors slingers and unit boxes. So I had to wait for him, and did it 3 days before season.
Will do on the pics.
I will be hunting over hull acorns when they start to drop. River is 1/3 full.

Water in river is way, way up. Went to my white oak flat on the north side of the river Wednesday. Didn't see a thing.

Looks like water tis about ta run over Hoard Rd judgeing from that pic.
Not sure just were your area is on North side.
Driving down road at WMA were camping areas are, seperating East&West sides. They have gate just after short little road going East ta a parking area.
Been on hog only hunt when gate was closed. Several low areas like old creek beds water starts flooding East area. Was just leaving when one of the guys works their was checking for hunters, & closing rest gates.
It first opened up, son & i did hog hunts & place looked like that, more water than dry ground. Started wearing calf-knee high rubber boots. Ya learn ta slide your feet when going in water ta check higher areas. Went from knee deep ta upta neck in one step. Did more emptung boots, they get heavey filled with water. Reason went ta used tennieshoes, duck tape & pvc glue holden em tagether. Ya lots of great memmories.
Lots can go wrong quick when its up like that, tis guessing gates closed. It usualy during Jan-March hog only hunts, must had lots of rain.
Have hunted it by boat during hog only. Several high areas. Found hogs stranded, rest area was completly under water, Hoard road closed, the old road on 14 would be closed also.
As volenteer fireman went on call were person tried ta cross 14 in pickup, had ta rescue with boats.
Deer usualy can be seeing headed West off the WMA when it starts getting like that, hogs can be found, doesnt bother them as much.
coolpics Deer hunting be on hold fur awhile. Good for hunters with surrounding land.
edit: it kinda lengthly read rofl most have me on thar ignorance list so still best kept secret.
Keep your head held high & your powder dry.
Stay Safe.
