amazing how terrible the calling decoys and skybusting were back then...maybe why the birds have lived so long and been so educated

I killed a ton of geese with dove loads. We were kids and didn't have the money. Dad wouldn't spring for shells but he would give us all the dove loads we could shoot. He got them for free taking customers whitewing shooting in Mexico every year.

A mounted Blue Goose now moved to a wall in my workshop because of disintegration due to time was shot with #8 lead shot on a duck hunt at what is now Lake Ray Roberts within the last season lead was still legal. On that hunt I had run out of my go to duck load, #6 Lead Remington Nitros. Big Mallards still migrated through north of Dallas where houses have now replaced peanut fields. That Load dropped those fat mallards dead dead dead like magic. I do miss lead as well. BTW I downloaded every show from that series on youtube to watch while hog hunting in my camper blind this year. I had never seen this one before. It reminds me of Don Wallace. My favorite fishing show of all time.

After that, Larry Gore and Paradise hunting club took over, and the rest was history
