Got a brother that lives in CO. He has expressed an interest in shooting some cranes. I've never hunted them myself. Looking for a good outfitter for them, preferably around Amarillo since that is the halfway point for both of us. Anybody got any firsthand info on someone worth getting in touch with?

Thanks

I know Muddy Waters hunts out of the panhandle. Not certain how close to Amarillo though.

Good to know. Thanks. I usually hunt with them out of Wichita Falls, haven't been up to the panhandle with them yet.

Panhandle's Best is a Good Choice, But Mark Usually hunts around Lubbock or Littlefield w/ NO Competition around...

I have also hunted Geese w/ Straight Line Outfitters out of Amarillo! They do Crane Hunts too so I would give them a Call...

Might do extra research into Panhandles best.. he got busted a few years ago by the feds, he also got caught hunting on some land that was another outfitters... googled his website lately??... And he’s not hunting around Lubbock without competition lmfao...

Looks like blackfoot is a guide out of Lubbock too. http://www.blackfootguideservice.com/index1.php Hence the competition remark.
I sure like Michael with Muddy Waters outfitters. http://www.muddywateroutfitters.com/

I've used Blackfoot before. Great guys and great hunts.

We did geese in the morning and cranes in the afternoon.

to be fair he got busted letting the feds shoot his limit, which they asked to do. Something probably 85% of clients think they should get to do

I will second Panhandle's Best. He will have cranes within spitting distance and knows what he is doing. If you want to hunt with an outfit that has ruined waterfowl hunting around Lubbock for the common guy, go with Blackfoot.

Hunted with Mark the week before he got busted. That was not the case when we hunted with him. The birds were definitely in our face. Went the next year as well after the incident and same results all legit then.

Muddy Waters also puts you on the birds.

Hunted w/ Mark (on the Weekends) on 2 different Hunts- 2 different years in Lamb Co. and did not hear a shot from any other fields! I did see that he got in Trouble w/ the Feds....But there are (2) sides to every story.

Used to be able to knock on doors and obtain permission to hunt pretty easily, not so much the case anymore. Outfitters, not just Blackfoot, have locked up many of those properties.

In all fairness that ain't their fault. Just the way things are. Those landowners have as much right to make a profit as anyone and Outfitters have a right to lease that land if a deal is struck. That statement was misleading as if they had done something unethical and plain wrong to throw out there like that IMO...
