First pic is funny.
I’d say it’s a better than decent morning - you got out, shot some birds, had your dog make retrieves. Works for me. She seems like she is getting the hang of things. Good stuff.
I just turned it on . I was looking bird dogs in the butt this morning.

That was the last bird of the morning and really made the hunt. It sailed off 80 yards out into the smart weed, it went down like it was wounded. I sent Tara, I was worried she would not run far enough out and start “hunting it up” before she got there, but she took a great line and ran right to the area. Then she drifted 40 yards off the area, and stared working her way back in, and eventually came back in with out the bird, and she stood about 20 yards from me and gave me a look like for me to caste her to it and help her. I already made mind up was not going to caste her, I realy figured bird was long gone. I normally tell her “no bird” when I want her to give up, but I didn’t this time, I just called her in told her “place” to get back in her spot. But she turned back around on her own and took off looking for it again, she ran right back to the area it went down and came back with bird I could not believe it.

Other than not obeying, that’s awesome (and I’m sure you found it in your heart to forgive her when she got that bird).

I was happy to see her go out back after it, kind of hard to explain, but It was more like “if you are giving up, then come over here and stop flaring the birds”. If I gave her a “no bird” with a “here”, she knows she is done.

Looks like she's gonna make a duck hound.

Moments like that really make the day.
