I’ve had a new ac system installed in my house and have noticed that the humidity is a little high. Salt shaker is gumming up, moisture on counters. What should the humidity be in your house? I live in Granbury the humidity is 92 percent outside right now and 76 percent inside. We haven’t had any issues till the last 3-4 weeks. We keep it at 75 during the day and 73 at night.
Thanks

Just not cycling enough with the cooler daytime highs. Turn that sucker down a cupola of clicks during the daytime until you get a lower outside humidity.

Bill is correct.

Another option is to force an extended on cycle. Try a 2 to 4 degree pull down for about an hour or so.

If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

I have a Trane XL-16 heat pump. I had the fan set to stay running 24/7, instead of cycling with the condensing unit. I had heard it would keep the air cleaner, more uniform, etc., and not increase my electric bill because the fan has a 220 volt motor and doesn't burn much juice at all.

Early this summer I noticed that my humidity reading was high. It was downright uncomfortable, even with a temp of 72, plus or minus a degree or so, depending on what we were doing. I called my HVAC man about the humidity reading, and what I was doing with the fan. He said to set the thermostat back to automatic. My humidity reading immediately dropped back into the 40s. Everything was fine then.

My Trane XL 16 has that as well. However, the humidity setting will override the temp setting.

Before changing my fan setting from "On" back to "Automatic", if I had the humidity setting on say 45% and the temp on say 72, it would run forever. Even if it got down to 72 degrees it would keep running trying to get the humidity down.

DannyB, I have the same unit as you do . Mine stays on auto and the humidity does not get below 74-76. My ac guy is coming out Mon to change some setting. We shall see.
Thanks everyone for the input. I told my wife who needs google, I have THF.

Also check to make sure the condensate is draining properly.
I have seen several units installed that had trap problems.

I have an American Standard AccuComfort Platinum 18 with variable speed compressor. Right now it is showing 90* outside, 72* inside, with 54% indoor humidity with the compressor running at 37%.

Better have them check for leaks if it's dropped 2 lbs of freon.

We had a Freon leak in the air handler in the attic. Had Freon put in the system a couple of times over a year or so. Finally the problem got worse, so we had the air handler replaced (American STD) and had e new thermostat installed. All the problems we had prior to this - different temps in various rooms and wandering humidity - are solved with the new gear.

When the old attic air handler was taken out, the insulation in the unit was totally soaked with water, like a sponge. That was the likely cause of our humidity problems.
