I am the sole owner and operator for Black River Hunting Camps llc. I do all the guiding and communications. Book with me and you will be hunting with me. You will also be my only client in the field.
All hunts are comfortable base camp tents, with home style meals unless they are booked as a back packing hunt. In which case they are feeeze dried meals and one man tents to stay mobile.

I have several hunts open for 2018 and one or two left in 2017. I offer grizzly bear hunts in June over bait, staying st a remote lodge with more comforts than home! Also have a couple early and late fall hunts open for 2018. Spot and stalk hunts on the open tundra. For 2018
I also have one dall sheep hunt still open. I do two sheep hunts a year.
Grizzly hunts are currently $14,000
Dall Sheep are currently $16,000
Anyone booking at these
Prices will secure that price. All hunts include air charter fees and I will pick you up from anchorage and deliever you back to anchorage.
Not included are hunting license ($165) grizzly tags ($1000) or the sheep tag ($850).

The prices seem quite reasonable. Will the sheep hunt be done backpacking or out of a Base camp?

Sheep hunts are backpacking. We could do one from a base camp but your success rate will be much higher backpacking.

Do you do moose hunts? I'm leaning towards a drop moose hunt because of the price of fully guided ones, but figured it doesn't hurt to ask.

I actually don't do moose. Moose hunts are fun until the gun goes off. So I've never really tried to get an area for doing them, 9 backpack loads of 100-150lbs each? Been there done that , not worth it. Lol

I might add all the pictures so far are just from this 2016 season.

Forgot this one. This is the bear from Kodiak this spring. 9'6" on the morning of day two. Saw 27 bears.

Spring 7' grizzly from last June.

Dall ram from last fall, day three.


Kodiak brown bear was last fall. 9'2" boar on day three I think.

2017 is booked up. Still have several openings in 2018. Except for dall sheep, those are booked as well as all Kodiak brown bear and blacktail deer hunts for 2018. A handful of baited grizzly hunts as well as soot and stalk grizzly hunts!
