No time to send off soil for test. What grows for deer in sandy soil?
Will the hogs tear it up?

There's only 2 seasons in a year. Deer season and getting ready for deer season.

Oats will grow well in sandy soil and hogs will tear up anything. Broadcast 100lbs of oats per acre and 100lbs of 13-13-13 fertilizer. It will come up and you will have a food plot.
Cabin rental in Pagosa Springs, Co. Sleeps 10, If interested please PM me.

I plant wheat, oats and legumes they all seem to do well. Like Mr. T said put 13-13-13 fertilizer on it. Hogs will tear anything up in any kind of soil.

Turnips grow very well in sandy soil and will tolerate any cold weather that might hit before the end of the season. They actually get better with a freeze on them.

This is true, we mix in turnip seed on my cousins place in southern Oklahoma and deer love them especially when it gets cold..... FYI I don't know how much your looking to plant but turnip seed is TINY, if your looking to broadcast the seed from a tractor or ATV mounted spreader you are better off mixing the seed with some slightly damp corn meal or fine sand to get it to broad cast correctly.

Here photo of 2 acre plot that was planted in sandy loam on the 9th with oats and peas. Oats up about 1-012 inches, pea vines about 8-10 inches. Of course I was lucky and got lots of good rain on the plot after planting. I have many photos of deer out feeding in the plot.
