I have this long time friend, Evil John. He is actually a pretty good guy, experienced shooter, but with limited hunting experience save for small game hunting. I have been trying to get him to come out for a while and he finally had some comp time built up and decided to come hunt.
We spent some time at the range for him to get familiar with the gear and headed out to hunt. Surprisingly, the first place we stopped had a hog. In retrospect, things might have gone a bit smoother had we had run through the same lessons after dark as we did in the daylight as perspectives are a bit different when everything is really dark. Even so, we worked through the on problem of spotting and identifying the hog and we got him dropped. Evil John was happy.
