I'm sure this has been covered a number of times...but I missed it. Ive been using a green kill light and have been happy with it, but I just picked up a red light for predators and wondered how the hogs like it?

Thanks in advance guys...

My experience has been that any sudden light, regardless of color, will cause hogs to get a bit jittery. White lights seem to cause them the most concern. Green and red seem to be a toss-up. If they've been hunted heavily with lights, they will tend to spook a bit more easily when you hit 'em with light. Try to start your light above the hog and slowly pull it down to them.

Iíve used red and green and couldnít tell you if one was better than the other . But I did see something pretty handy about two weeks ago. Was called a coyote light . Focusable beam, and a dimmer on the back . Could start real low, and turn up intensity incrementally. I would have like to have had one of those. It was just white light, but he told me they made red/green covers for it. Was small enough for helmet mount if a guy wanted . Was kind of high, 250ish if I remember right. But seemed solid. Donít recall where he said he got it . Iím sure google knows though.

The Elusive HD3 has all 3 colors in one light (no changing bulbs), focusable beam, whisper silent dimmer, rotary dimmer on back and awesome mounts.

I have a friend with Elusive who is adamant that the green light is the way to go for hogs, but said that regardless of color, what seems to spook them most is sudden shadow creation. If they see it, they tend to spook.

I don't know if particular color range is a factor or not. Years ago when I did some testing, I found that hogs spooked less with red light than with green or white. Maybe as mikei said above, it is a toss up.

We use the green ASF Boar Light. It is on all night and brightens with motion. Doesn't scare anything. Have 2 of them at the lease.

I use a green Sharpie on the lens, works perfectly. Then I will use rubbing alcohol to remove it if changing lights. Cheap, simple and effective.
