At what point in the dove hunting season do you call it quits and move on to other outdoor adventures? I hit mine today when I only saw a dozen birds this evening (and shot 3.) The same field produced limits opening weekend, and half limits this past Saturday.

At least it was a nice sit and a great view.

To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit the target.

Weather and other things have kept me from dove hunting yet. Will get a couple hunts in this coming weekend.

I usually get my dove hunting fix pretty quick. I prefer shooting mammals.

Beautiful picture up If the field is close, I would now only hunt when I see decent numbers of birds either flying by or on the electric lines.

Maybe a good cold front might push some MIGS your way and the fun will start all over?

You're fortunate. I haven't seen a dozen birds in 3 hunts combined.

I'm not done yet.

No such thing as diminishing returns in my book unless there is something better to hunt simultaneously... Always great to get out even when slow. Sometimes I'll just sit there and let birds fly by just to take in the moment and relax.

Heading to the Nooner ranch this afternoon. It's set up pretty well to have birds no matter what.

We have water standing in the fields in every direction, food sources are also everywhere. I will take the water anytime, so no complaints from me.

I prolly won't make a dove hunt this season, which is very rare for me as it is one of my favorite things to do.

I'm ok with it though, bad weather for the 2nd year in a row has put the kibash on the birds here

Teal season opens this weekend so it’s time to move on, will shoot at doves if they are flying though.

If I recall from biology class (50+ years ago) an animal has to have mammary glands to be a mammal.

You've never drank dove milk? Sure is refreshing on a hot day in the field.

3 limits in 3 hunts were easy at valdina (north of dhanis) and nooners place by mummes in hondo. The valdina is a great experience.

What a view to start the day, cup of coffee and that view would sure set my day. Haven't went dove hunting in a couple years, few birds around here until November last 2 seasons. Have a few around the house, but not enough land to hunt them really anyway

Opening weekend is all I got in this year. Left for a week long hunt and will be getting ready for bow season, so dove get pushed aside. If I could get out though, I would.

I think around 4” as of Thursday. Haven’t got an update for today

I don’t go out there much anymore. Last time I think was November of 2016

Usually, mammals give live birth, but all mammals nurse their young and have some amount of hair. There are some other qualifications, but birds are not mammals. Bats are mammals but not birds.

Congratulations, you found one mammal, on the entire earth, that lays eggs, against thousands of others. I'll order some cookies for you. What is the address to send them to?
