Who's going? And did you pick up your tags yet?

Yep, but no tags needed this year. Unless you want to shoot lead.

Coastal hunting looks to be in jeopardy. Holding off buying my tags to see what the rain is going to do.

The savings on steel offsets the price of the tags. It’s worth it

Gonna save me about $100 if I shoot like I usually do and go a couple times. Tags are worth it, I’m doing it!!!

Got my tags but my teal hole was just about dry before this rain. I'll have to scout it out and see if it cought water.

If not I'll sell someone my teal tags.

So lets see some pics of the new rig and get a report on how it performs!

I was looking forward to hunting but remembered this morning I threw away my neoprene waders after duck season and my breathables after the whitebass run. Got tired of fixing leaks and totally forgot to get replacements. Don't have time to pick up another pair this week so it looks like next weekend it will be..unless I just go waderless...which it should be plenty warm to do.

I’ve teal hunted in a swim suit plenty of times! Sure beats neoprene

Check out Academy. they had clearances on Frog Toggs and other waders for $24-$29 down from $130ish.

Yep or fishing type pants and wading boots work also work well in warm temps

This weather system pushed all birds out of North Texas. No build up of fresh birds to speak of yet.

I hunt in camo shorts and mud boots. If I'm solo doing all the work on deke's etc, I wear shorts and hip waders.

Heres a few pics. Its a 20/54 with 3/16 bottom and 1/8 everywhere else. Primary duck but set up to fish out of also. Getting 28 mph in calm water and have hit 30 with the wind. All stock motor (GT 40efi) . Thats alone with a small load. Still need to see what happens with a real hunt load. Jumps up pretty good...again alone. Running 2 blade prop right now. What I'm liking so far...SIZE does matter! I like the open layout but have plenty of storage. The steps on the rear are nice. Not messing around with old fashion running lights. I like all the storages but I'm still farting around with the rear passenger storage/seat. All my chit goes in the driver storage seat. 4 dozen decoys all stay on the bow when under way, keeping floor clean plus the gun box opens easily with 2 dozen dekes on it. It was a toss up between MB and GT. I went with GT cause my buddy has a MB and were going to see how they perform with each other. Only thing I didn't get that I wanted was the round chime.

Another reason I went with the 20 footer is the future. These engines are going to change significantly in the next 5 years or so. I can sell and up gradely motor if I want to. My buddy has a 17.5/52 prodigy and we get cramped real fast.

I like it, looks like a very nice rig, I am interested in seeing how it performs with a true hunt load, all gear, 3people, and a dog.
Post speeds with that load when you try it out, just wondering how that 40 performs with a load.
Is it 20 feet overall including the hunt deck or 20 plus the hunt deck?

Only thing I would add is small led floods on each side of your main running light turned at an angle to shine light to the side/front of the boat. This will be a must if driving in heavy timber and stump fields, its hard to navigate when your LEDS are shining straight ahead.

20ft overall. I wanted a 19ft boat but a 20ft avoids all flotation specs. There is 0 flotation in the boat. So we pointed the nose for the additional foot. Its not a V hull at all...true flat bottom. Red LED interior lights including storage areas. Storage rail under the catwalks running entire length is nice also. My seats will be small coolers for passengers. I have the bases with nicer seats but those will be for fishing. The coolers are lighter and we can use them for ice/drinks and more storage plus move them around to adjust loads. Me and my buddy have already talked about our light bars. He has the side LED that lights up the night. I'll run this for this year then make adjustments . I've ran a couple lakes already in the dark and straight ahead its fine but your correct the sides are iffy. One thing I'm disappointed in is the hand torque on these motors. Depending on how your cutting the wind your arm can get a workout holding it steady. Some props will adjust that I think so I'll play around with different props later. I like the handle on these new GT. Trim and throttle are all with one hand and FNR toggle is right there also. I need to adjust the handle tightness or whatever its called....when you hit something and the motor pops up but handle floats???? I bruised my dam hip on a stumpy lake east of here last week with the handle.

I'll post load specs soon as teal starts in 2 days banana

Bend your skeg a little. It will help a ton.
