I'm often seeing dove hunting videos, reports, nor blogs from dove hunters.
However, I don't recall seeing any of them use dove calls.

Anyone use them? or they just not worth it?

When they land in field, toot your whistle and they will come walking in. Then you can skillet shoot and get to drinking sooner.

I do a dove hail call, works great.

I wonder if it would be considered baiting to spread out a bunch of biodegradable airsoft pellets into a field to hunt over like those corn on the cob decoys.

I prefer to bait the doves. I had to quit wearing this shirt, no one else huntng with me ever got a shot,,, all the birds came to me.

I use the mojo decoy and use the dove in heat spray. If birds are within 1/4 mile the dove in heat spray will bring them in.
you can limit with a 410 single shot.

I put my gun down and take a leak. It calls them in every time.

+1 for dove estrus. I usually hang a bunch right outside my pit blind... hanging down from 25 mojos. But we prefer an electronic caller over the whistle call, way less hassle. Plus the e-caller won't bring in white wings and that is crucial cuz you can't legally use it with them.

Both my son and I just call blowing in to our hands. Make a box with both hands and blow between our thumbs.

I have seen several birds turn and come into decoys once we start calling.

Does it work all the time, no. Would I buy a call, no. But it has definitely worked at times.
