I know there is a similar thread about this, but my question is can I put up my feeder and stake it down with a T-post on all 3 poles and some zip ties maybe? Or since you don’t need a ladder to fill this feeder making it shorter, will the cows keep pushing on it until they destroy it and get the corn out? It does have a varmit cage on the spinner if that matters, I’m just trying to avoid building a fence around 2 diff feeders.

I have used driven a T-post along each feeder leg and then either used u-bolts or hose clamps to attach the post to the leg. You have to drive the post in the ground at least 2 ft or more if possible. The best remedy is to put up another feed pen cause the cows will always be a problem. I would not shorten the feeder without a feed pen.

If you can find them, the concrete form stakes are great for anchoring down the legs on feeders. They are heavy, and the advantage is they are drilled for wire already. Usually hammer them in about 18-20", and they're solid. Last lease in Bracketteville the LO ran cows and goats, you had to have a pen around all the feeders, and even then some of the goats would climb the net fencing.

You need the fence with cows; it will make your life better-and make it a good one.

I have a feeder in my small pasture with 3 cows out there. They come along and nibble at the corn but don't really like sucking it up out of the dirt. They have never messed with the feeder itself, except when I had it low they would lick the spinner plate and spill the corn, so I raised it. I do have T post wired to the legs.

We have some on 4 ft legs (cyclone fence posts). We drive the lighter gauge t-posts along side them at the same angle as the post and zip a couple of big self tapping sheet metal screws to secure post to leg. Worked good for us. And they are now stand and fill. I think the lower center of gravity and low enough that the cows aren't walking under them actually helps.
