Well, it was bound to happen eventually! I was drawn for the Matador WMA Antlerless Whitetail Hunt! I just moved to Lubbock so I’m conveniently close to the hunt location. Does anyone have any tips and/or experience to share regarding Matador?

There are a few threads on here with good information if you want to search. My brother and I got drawn last year and saw several mule deer, but the whitetails were not cooperating. While unsuccessful, it was still a fun hunt in some beautiful country.

Here is a link to my report last year

Which hunt were you drawn for Dec. 5-9th or 15-19th? We will be there for the Dec. 5-9th hunt.

Congratulations on the draw. I'll keep trying to hunt there.

We were drawn for the 15th-19th hunt, due to a bad mammogram for the wife, we chose to not buy the permit. Hunting will be slim this year. Somebody was happy after the 2nd draw.

Sorry about your wife. Why do say the hunting will be slim? Because of the drought?

Oh ok, I completely understand. I didn't get on a deer lease this year because I had a son born in February. Good luck!

Good luck as well. We will be in a travel trailer, not sure which camp to use. It depends if we bring a generator or not.

First camp ground to the left after you leave the headquarters if you have a generator, one at the end of the road no generators allowed.

Both have shelters with tables no water or electricity.the one that allows generators has about 3 or 4 sites and the other is much larger with about 8-10 sites
