Anyone else use the dove they shoot as decoys on a barbed wire fence? Seems to work great for me and been doing it all my life like my grandpa showed me growing up. Im to cheap to buy the plastic ones that clip on the fence.

Never seen that. You just hang them on a barb? Seems like a good idea.

Yeah just hang them from one of the bards. Never had a problem with ants while they were hanging like that.

If its hot outside I usually don't do it. But if I do I don't leave them up very long.

I wouldn’t mess with it, in the heat my birds go directly on ice when shot, and plastic decoys would work better I would think.

Where I hunt you don't need help of any kind until Oct 1st thereabouts. We hunt on what I would say is as good a field in N Tx and there are guys with mojos out opening morning. I guess its tradition or something confused2

Back in the day I stuck mine to mesquite trees over a water hole in the Sandhills and they worked like a champ. This was before any decoys, or at least I’d never seen a dove decoy.
