Hello. I am a firefighter/paramedic who has been in this profession for 17 years. Due to my profession I miss out a lot on time with my daughters. I am looking to take my daughter's hunting so we can spend some quality time together. I would like the experience of them killing a deer and the experience of us doing things outdoors together. This would provide a time we could talk and bond together. I had this experience with my father and is something that was a memorable experience.I would like to provide it for them also. If you have information on how I could make this happen please PM ME. I have limited funds really not having funds to pay for a lease. Any information you could provide would be appreciated.

Check into public land hunts on the Texas Parks and Wildlife website or check out the guides and outfitters section for package hunts.

The only advice I can give is don't make the mistake I made with my oldest daughter. I made it unenjoyable, got up extra early, sat in the cold. Just make it as fun as you can. I would do a day hunt, guaranteed kill type of thing.

If they are under 18, check into the Texas Youth Hunting program. An excellent organization with great hunt opportunities.

I have not had any luck getting my girls into deer hunting. They love hog hunting but we spot and stalk. They just can't sit still in the blind. I have not given up hope though.

You can do doe hunts pretty cheaply. I do one or two a year to fill the freezer. The people that offer them want to does taken so they make sure you have a good chance of success. If it is the experience you want and not a set of antlers then this is an option. If you put up a post specifically asking about doe hunts for your daughters you'll probably find someone that will hook you up.

You may ask if they want to actually kill a deer. My daughter is young (4) and has no interest in hunting (yet), but she really wants to sit with me and take pictures of them. She's seen the game camera photos and thinks they look cool.
You may start with something like that and build towards a hunt. You still get to spend time with them and experience the outdoors together.

LOL, my 6 year old daughter hates the deer blind, but loves going to the lease and absolutely loves hog hunting after dark. My 11 year old daughter would prefer to not sit in a blind, but she will. She put the hammer down on the deer last year (nice buck and 2 doe) and wants to get a bigger buck this year, but dreads the idea of getting back in the blind.

The hunt is the experience not the kill. Camping, Hotdogs, firepit, camp breakfast. Doing it with them not for them you should have a great time.
