I have made a last minute decision to look for a place to dove hunt if I can find one close to home. Just was looking for verification that they were legit, that there are birds, that they don't overcrowd, etc.

To directly respond to your questions: Are they legit? Yes Are there birds? It depends Do they overcrowd? Technically no but that is subjective
Here is my $0.02: I've hunted with them for 6 years (this year will be 7 I think) because of how convenient it is for afternoon hunts. Part of what keeps me FROM hunting is how much grief I get at home. If I can make a quick trip out and not take up a whole day or a whole weekend, then I am going to be able to do more than I would have otherwise. Dove Blasters is great for this because they legitimately have fields IN the city, not close to the city. David Gray is great and always takes care of me. I don't know Beau as well, but he is always cordial, gives back to the Texas community (see hurricane relief), and is a good old cajun.
As far as birds / overcrowding -- they do everything they can to bring birds in but that is a little out of their control. For overcrowding, they limit certain fields to weekends only to keep them from getting shot out and they also have a handy little registration/reservation process to give you your dedicated space (roughly 40 yards of fence line). They only allocate space based upon fence measurements so it's not like some operations that say we have 100 acres of "huntable" land and then do stacks on stacks of people.
All of that said, with the advantage of being in the city comes the downfall of it's going to get hunted regularly. As long as you go in knowing that, then you should have your expectations set. Will it get shot out faster? Yes. Are they trying to prevent that? Yes. Does being in the city give you better water sources? Potentially. Are some of the people who hunt out there dumb because they are 99% city and 1% country enabled? Sure. At the end of the day though I think it's all about expectations and I couldn't be happier for what I get and why I use it.

Luckily, I get no grief from hunting, but my boy has baseball and the girls have soccer, which takes up most of my time in Sept and Oct. After that Deer takes up most of my time. Thank you for your input. I might hunt with them this year. If I do, maybe we'll run into each other.

Was this malicious and he knew it was your lease, or was he just looking for additional spots? I see a big difference between trying to expand a portfolio to deliver services to customers and knowingly going after land because a specific person is leasing it.
