Good Afternoon,

I am looking to buy a GSP to use as a house dog as well as a field dog. I stumbled upon Rob Martin and his dogs, but none of the guys I hunt with know him. Ive found a thread on him for training, but nothing on breeding. Anyone know if he produces quality pups? The sire is a champion by the name of Flash if that is of any meaning to any of you.

Thanks in advance

I don’t know Rob. I do hunt with a lot of men that have Shorthairs from many different breeders. The nicest ones I’ve seen are two out of two different breedings from Blue Dawn Kennels in Kansas. Both are smart dogs with long range noses and both are owned by different guys and were trained by different trainers.I would take either of those BDK dogs over any Shorthairs I’ve seen.

Just about any shorthair line pup can become a good house dog. For upland shorthairs start with John Rabidou at Uodibar Kennels or try HK Kennels. If you don't want to start with a pup, Charlie Rose at Wildrose Kennels in Seymour used to produce finished housebroken dogs for a friend of mine.

I know Rob Martin well. He's a great guy and the go to trainer for NSTRA. I'm not sure if he breeds. I'll pass this along.

I’ve heard only good things about both of these kennels. I was going to get a Shorthair from Charlie last year. He seemed like a good man that knows his dogs from talking to him over the phone. His dogs have a top notch reputation and I’d have at least one of his if a buddy of mine hadn’t given me a pup last year. I’m dog poor right now and my wife is still on me to get a pointing lab pup from another freind that’s having a litter.

Rob Martin has three litters right now.

There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

Rob has a good bloodlines, and has produced a lot of good dogs. The dog Flash that all of his current litters he has is a littermate to FC Llano's Game On Dude which is one of the finest shorthairs in the US. I have been considering a female out of the Faith litter of pups he has now. I ain't trying to sell a dog for him, but he has produced some really nice dogs that run NSTRA.

I have been very pleased with my Shorthair from Topgun Kennels in Iowa.
Steve Reis is a top notch individual.
