I dove hunt quite a bit each year, but have used the same shells for a long time...Winchester Super X. If I were to switch to a heavier load I was considering these two and wanted to get y’alls thoughts:
1. Remington ShurShot Heavy Dove 12 Gauge 7.5 shot ($5.99 a Box)
Or
2. Winchester AA Super Sport Target Load 12 Gauge 7.5 Shot Shotshells (7.99 a box BUT a $2/box rebate...so $5.99)
Since they are the same price in the long run, are the AA’s better...or are they just for skeet?
Any suggestions and reasons why would be appreciated. Thx!

Can't really comment on the AA's but I hunt the Remington 7.5"'s almost exclusively and never had an issue bringing birds down. It's usually me not the shell.

I’ve been shooting AA #8 light handicap the last two years. Got 2 cases really cheap and I don’t shoot skeet so I used em for dove. Nothin I’ve found to complain about yet

Shot hardness matters.
Win AA all day long.
I used to shoot Remi express long range 6s and found flattened shot against the breastbone on numerous occasions. Switched to 7.5 AAs years ago and haven’t had that issue.
Thought for the day: Ducks were almost hunted to extinction long before camo was invented.

I used to love Federal loads until a few years ago. Rem leaves too much unburned powder imo. I used some cheap Rio last year with no complaints.

I like the AA shells and with the rebate they are a much better buy than the standard dove loads.

It's not gonna matter if you square up on a dove with either shell.

Having shot factory and reloaded thousands of AA hulls for trap shooting using Winchester ball powders, the powders burn cleaner and I've never had a problem cycling in my gun. But that's just me.

AA Super Sports hit like a hammer on clays or dove. Winchester also makes a lower end(non-reloadable) high speed round you can get at Wal Mart called the "Super Speed". (not to be confused with "Super Target")

The last time I tried to shoot the Winchesters through my gun they wouldn't cycle properly. The shells were just a hair too long so they wouldn't eject all the way. I only have that problem with the 2 3/4" shells, the 3" shells cycle fine.

Thanks for all the guys. Leaning towards the AA’s. Sounds like they are gonna be a better load for dove all things considered.

I honestly don't think you can get a much better dove load than a top of the line clay target load.

All I can tell you is that super sport in 28 gauge is a nightmare for doves. But, I will say, if you’re really in them, you can shoot the cheapest shells and still limit. Or you should?

Are they both 1 1/8 oz. loads?

AA's are the standard. And watch out if your shooting an auto with super speed (crap) a lot of guns won't cycle them reliably. They just don't generate enough gas, recoil or what ever. We saw it time and time again when I was in college working at a gun store/ range.

I have also heard good things about the Winchester AA Super Handicap. Of the two which is better for dove? I am tempted to try out AA's this year versus the cheap shells I usually buy.

AA Super Sport is my go to 12 ga dove load. Shoots fast and very light recoil which is exactly what I want for doves.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

I have experiences on both. Have no problem on neither. But, my gun, M2, seems like AA. It patterns better and hit further. Now, I only use AA for dove hunt. Walmart sells AA by $7.87 per box, so you literally can get $5.87 per box after rebate.

Remington Gun Clubs are a great option if you're after target loads. And they're priced a bit better than AAs.
